The video below will help you tremendously as it demonstrates the performance of 6 very popular noise cancelling headphones:

Tested Models in Order:

  1. Audio-Technica ATHANC7: $129
  2. JVC HANC250: $105
  3. Panasonic RP-HC500: $380
  4. Sony MDR-NC60: $120
  5. Bose Quiet Comfort 3: $350
  6. Sennheiser PXC-350: $180

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones Quiet Comfort 15 has set the bar pretty high.

So Which Noise Cancelling Headphones Won?

"And the Winner Is?" This is purely subjective of course but I think most people can agree that the Sennheiser PXC-350 cancelled the most noise of all the models.

In fact I've owned a pair of these for over a year now and they're great! At $180 at Amazon.com this is a great headset with superb noise cancelling, great sound, and they're very comfortable. But........

Just like anything else there is always something on the horizon that is better and that my friend is the The Bose Quiet Comfort 15

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones Quiet Comfort 15 has set the bar pretty high.

But Are The Sennheisers The Best?

I've loved my Sennheiser PXC-350s for the year I've owned them but after one listen with the Bose QC 15s and I immediately traded up. For as good as the Sennheisers performed in the video, they pale in comparison to the Bose Quiet Comfort 15s in noise cancelling.

So if you need the Best Noise Cancelling possible then the The Bose QC15 is the one!

See the comparison here: Sennheiser PXC-350 vs Bose Quiet Comfort 15

How Do The Other Four Noise Cancelling Headphones Compare?

So the Sennheisers are the clear winner of the Noise Cancelling Headphones Shootout.

But how do the rest of the noise cancelling headphones stack up?

In my opinion I rate them as follows:

These Sennheisers kicked the competition's butt when it comes to noise cancelling!

#1: Sennheiser PXC-350 Noise Cancelling Headphones

Without a doubt kicked the most noise cancelling butt hands down! It is undeniable that of the 6 noise cancelling headphones that these cancel the most noise. A Great Buy at $180!

But if you're impressed by these guys wait until you get a load of the New Bose Quiet Comfort 15s!

Great Noise Cancelling coupled with a super compact form factor makes these noise cancelling headphones very appealing.

#2: Bose Quiet Comfort 3 Noise Cancelling Headphones

These guys came in a slight 2nd place with pretty darn good noise cancelling but not nearly as good as the Sennheisers. I think this has a lot to do with the Bose's on the ear design vs the Sennheisers over the ear design which seals more noise out.

These are super compact and if that's a major concern then they may be the set you've been looking for for $350 Otherwise go with the Sennheisers or the new The Bose Quiet Comfort for $300

These Panasonic RP-HC500 Noise Cancelling Headphones faired out very well coming in 3rd place overall but for the $380 price tag I would skip them.

#3: Panasonic RP-HC500 Noise Cancelling Headphones

Panasonic's offering came in a respectable 3rd place but what isn't respectable is the price tag. At $380 you could buy two pairs of the Sennheisers or a pair of the best Noise Cancelling Headphones to date: The Bose Quiet Comfort 15

At less than a third of the price, the 4th place Sony MDR-NC60s make a whole lot more sense to me!

These Sony MDR-NC60s did a decent job at cancelling noise at at $120, they're a decent deal as well!

#4: MDR-NC60 Sony Noise Canceling Headphone

At $120 with decent noise cancelling these headphones may be the best bang for the buck in the entire lineup. I say this because you get decent noise cancelling at almost a third of the price of the Bose QC3s. But for $60 more you could have the Sennheisers and for $120 extra on top of that you could land Bose Quiet Comfort 15s which has the best noise cancelling of any headphone to date.

It's fun to catch yourself in the "for only x dollars more I could get" game and before you know it you're way over budget. I do this all the time, lol!

With a 4.5 Star Rating with over 1000 Reviews on Amazon.com, The Audio-Technica ATHANC7 are a decent set of Noise Cancelling Headphones for $129

#5: Audio-Technica ATHANC7 noise-cancelling headphones

At $129 these are a favorite amongst Amazonians and audiophiles alike. It's noise cancelling isn't the best by any means but it makes up for it in audio quality. Over 1000 reviews on amazon.com with a rating of 4.5 says so.

So if Audio Quality is the more important to you than noise cancelling and you want to stay in the $100-$150 range, deliberate no more and put these guys into your shopping cart. Buy Them Now!

At $100 these JVC HANC250 Noise Cancelling Headphones aren't bad but I would suggest spending $20 more dollars and getting the far superior Sony MDR-NC60.

#6: JVC HANC250 Noise Cancelling Headphones

The bottom of the barrel for these guys. At $100 they're not bad for what they are but spend the extra $20 or $30 and get the Sony MDR-NC60 or the Audio-Technica ATHANC7. The extra $20-$30 is money well spent!.
